Nick Rugai performing a TARD-over at the Perrine Bridge.

The Nitro Rigging jump course is a 6-day course held at the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls Idaho, one of the few legal BASE sites in the US.

The course is conducted by Nick Rugai with occasional guest experienced jumpers.  The course focuses on gear set up for any delay, packing, different types of exit, emergency procedures, unpacked jumps, landing, and the basic “ethical” principles.  If the weather cooperates students are expected to go back home with more than 20 jumps.

The course hopes to give students principles knowledge in order to pursuit BASE jumping.  The course will not make anyone a BASE jumper due to the nature of the object (the Perrine bridge is 486’ high, single span, and with a grassy landing area larger than a football field, in all not your typical BASE object hence the nickname the "Potato Bridge").

Our course requirements are much higher and stricter than any other BASE courses however our course fees are a fraction of the cost.  We are not looking to make any money off the students just to have a ball teaching the course!

In order to enroll in the course you must have:

bulletA very minimum of 200 skydives (absolutely no exceptions) but more are preferred.  Some CRW experience should be a must.  Landing accidents are responsible for the vast majority of the injuries in BASE and many of those are due to poor canopy skills due to canopy inexperience, please do not rush into BASE without the proper skydiving canopy experience
bulletA BASE specific rig with a BASE canopy loaded at around 0.7
bulletA hard helmet
bulletKnee pads
bulletA Motorcycle style back protector is highly recommended
bulletSturdy over-the-ankle boots
bulletA minimum of four steel spring clamps (like Home Depot item number 573682)
bulletTwo pull-up cords
bulletOne or two camping/tarp stakes
bulletA small adjustable wrench or a 9mm wrench
bulletGood gear knowledge (this is a great source)
bulletDZO name and contact number
bulletName and contact number of an experienced BASE jumper in your area
bulletThe completion of the following reading
bulletBASE Fatalist List
bulletBeing in decent physical shape in order to hike or climb out (our students are not permitted to take the boat! You must work for your jumps! Unless you have a physical disability besides laziness!)
bulletPhysically disabled students are more than welcome to enroll (actually encouraged) just let us know ahead of time what your needs are
bulletA good attitude, open mind, and laughs
bulletThings you must leave at home:
bulletSkygod attitude!
bulletThe idea that BASE jumping is a form of skydiving
bulletVirtually anything you read in various internet forums
